Mandatory literal tithing, like the Mormons. I would have a real problem with that.

"Confidential" JW.ORG Video Project Leaked
by Emery insyneidos posted some interesting information on reddit regarding jw.org's latest project for the upcomming 2015 memorial campaign.. for next year's 2015 memorial campaign, jw.org is producing an invitational video featuring jesus.
the video is still being filmed at the moment and i was told it was super "confidential.
" my source already saw several scenes from it and said, "it looks and feels like a cinematic movie.

punk, the organization is doing the best it can within its human limitations, but what the organization is doing is not my primary concern.
My primary concern is my personal relationship with Jehovah and Jesus. Everything else is secondary.
"So, then, each of us will render an account for himself to God." (Romans 14:12)

Meeting for not paying assembly fees???!!!!
by Kool Jo inhey folks......has anyone else heard of, or experienced this before?.
i visited by parents over the weekend and accompanied them to their assembly....same rubbish spoken about since ive been born....obey the gb, donate your last penny, no education and be a pushover.. anyways, our assembly hall has lush vegetation and scenery, so i was more focused on that....i started dozing off after lunch, so got up and went walking, saw some older folks from the congregation i grew up with.. upon the conclusion of the assembly, wed normally leave out right after the prayer ends so as to avoid the traffic.
however, for this assembly he told me that hes gonna be a few minutes with the elders and branch representatives...so a few minutes turned into an hour..

Advise your parents to strengthen their personal relationships with Jehovah and let the congregational chips fall where they may.
Trust Jehovah. He knows what He's doing.

Find What Your Social Status Was in the Congregation
by Mary inever notice how the "happiest people on earth" are also the most class-oriented?
the social structure in the congregation is more complex than the blueprints of a nuclear warhead, but just so that you "remember your place", see if you can find where your niche was/is:.
1. at the top of the social order of things within the congregation is of course, the presiding overseer and his family.

I must be a #9. I don't give a hoot about status and I'm in the congregation for one reason only: to serve Jehovah.

It will be interesting to see what Jehovah will allow to happen.
"For it is the appointed time for the judgment to start with the house of God..." (1 Peter 4:17)

Question for those converted to JW as adults
by DaleRivers inwhy did you become a jw, what particular teachings attracted you to 'the truth' ?.
.
in my case (baptized at 20/21) it was the only religion i knew; my mom, her mom, and favorite sister were jw; and the teachings of no hellfire or immortal soul made sense to me.. .

For me it was the focus on the preaching work; each Witness accepting a personal responsibility to preach publicly. I thought it was what Jesus would want his followers to do.

Strange situation
by Gorbatchov inhi folks,.
the rank and file is now in a strange situation.. it is clear that the jw leadership is in for a huge change.
the type / anti type change makes clear that they make a u-turn.. it's clear that with this changes the current doctrine are temporary.

SofP, I can't speak for other Witnesses, only for me.
The ORG has said a lot of quaint (pleasingly old-fashioned) things, and there is some truth to them. But the ORG's reality is not always my reality. I have a "threefold cord" (Jehovah, Jesus, and me) that the ORG is not a part of.
